ABOUT ME

Malasakit

It means compassionate care—a deep sense of concern for others that goes beyond empathy. Malasakit is about anticipating needs, acting with intention, and making people feel genuinely cared for. I didn't realize it then, but this value was preparing me to be a designer.

I didn't choose design. Design chose me. Growing up in the Philippines, I was always drawn to both art and technology—painting as a kid, coding in high school, studying computer engineering in college. During an internship, I was building mobile apps when a mentor noticed I had an eye for design. They trained me as a UX designer. I said yes and never looked back.

Six years later, now based in Hawaiʻi, malasakit guides everything I do. I design products that make people feel understood.

CURRENTLY

I'm consulting with non-profit organizations and small businesses, helping them strengthen community impact, improve accessibility, and modernize their digital presence. I also run design workshops teaching practical design skills, social media, and tech fundamentals to folks exploring the field.

In my free time, I'm experimenting with AI tools and exploring how to thoughtfully integrate them into my design process—always learning, always curious.

I'm looking for full-time opportunities in healthcare tech, where design can make a real difference in people's lives.
